Description:
Roman coins like these were made between 49 BC and 44 BC, during Julius Caesar’s reign and have been found in a number of countries controlled by the Roman Empire including Spain and Italy. These coins were engraved with the face of the current emperor/dictator on one side of the coin, and symbols on the other side which varied according to the different time periods. These replicas were created from a paper-based clay and were engraved by using a cookie cutter and a toothpick. The coins were then painted silver with a “decayed, rusted” appearance.
