Title: Moai Statue of Rapa Nui
Dimensions (cm): 11x6.5x5
Artist: Jennifer Magerkorth
Editor: Carmen Anderson
Region: Oceania & Asia
Description:
There are roughly 800-900 statues found on Easter Island. They are carved from volcanic rock and their meaning is still a mystery. It has been speculated that they were made in honour of deceased chiefs and are roughly dated to the year 1633AD. This replica is made from sand dough, white glue and black paint. It is moulded around styrofoam to resemble the original statue.
