Description:
Canopic jars came in sets of four and were used to store and preserve organs, previously removed during the process of mummification. This particular set is replicated from a set that dated back to the New Kingdom 1540-1070 BCE. They were created by molded clay into a cup to create the jar shape, and the top was carved and shaped with various carving utensils.
