Description:
Wooden or bamboo slips were used in various ways during the Han dynasty. They could be used as textbooks for the imperial exam or as a humble way to write a letter, as demonstarted with this artefact which is a replica of a love letter written by a court eunuch to a concubine in the royal harem. This artefact was made by splitting the bamboo into slips, recording information onto the slips, and then tying the slips together with hemp at the top and bottom of the slips.
