Title: Dream catcher

Artist: Tegan Spur
Editor: Victoria Hardy
Region: Americas
Description:
Native American originating in the Ojibwa tribes located in the Americas. First recorded in 1929 but possibly dating back to early 1400. Traditionally hung above the bed in order to prevent bad dreams of the sleeper. HOW THE REPLICA WAS MADE: Originally made by forming a circle of willow and weaving a web pattern around the inner edge of the hoop to create a small hole in the centre. Feathers and beads are often attached to the hoop or string to represent wisdom, courage and Asibikaashi (spider woman). This replica was made using willow, twine and feathers.
