Description:
Used in the mummification process, Canopic Jars stored and preserved the organs. This style was used starting in the 19th Dynasty which ruled from c. 1292 to 1187 BC. It was during the 19th Dynasty that the lids began to depict the four sons of Horus. This jar bearing the head of Hapi, a hamadryas baboon, was used to protect the lungs.
